This case is not a question of Tom Robinsons innocence, he is wrongfully accused and wrongfully punished because he is a black man. Black people back then were treated differently, they were the scum of society, people generalized and truly believed all blacks were evil. "do not be blinded with the common assumption that all blacks are lie, all blacks are immoral, all blacks are dumb" Atticus exclaimed. It is clear this is a widespread generalization back then but it is wrong to believe so and it is obviously fueling the court. He is wrongfully accused and wrongfully convicted because man cannot look past skin , anyone who is different is wrong, he is an innocent man.
